A poem about people wanting to change me:
Change!!! I could change the colour of my hair I could change the clothes I wear I could change the way I speak I could even change the way I live But it wouldn’t be me I can’t change the way that I think I can’t change what’s inside of me You can change me on the outside But you’ll never change what’s inside of me You can make me into who you want You can dress me up in fancy clothes You can put me in a fancy house You can change me on the outside You can try and make me lady You can buy me jewellery You can make me read the broadsheets You can make me drink high tea When you love someone like you say you do You’d be happy with who they are You wouldn’t want me to change a thing You’d be happy with me It just wouldn’t be me, if you changed everything You can only change the outside The inside still remains I wouldn’t make you happy if I were to change You can change me on the outside But you’ll never change what’s inside of me! © Glenda PK 2005 |
