Some people consider buying their photographic equipment abroad, and at first glance this can appear to be a wise financial decision but beware- For instance buying a camera say in the US may cost less in dollars than in pounds but import a product this way and you'll be liable for both import duty and VAT which could end up costing you more in the long run and if you avoid declaring the goods then you're smuggling, customs officers can tell the origin of goods simply from it's serial number and you could be stopped at any time entering or leaving a country.
Most importantly is the warrenty as you will need to make sure you are covered should anything go wrong with your purchase. A good example is some warranties are only valid in the country of purchase so it's not much use to you if you reside in the UK.
To avoid upset and later problems always do as much research as you can on any product you intend on purchasing.
