Our Activities
All areas of the visual arts including painting and drawing in watercolour, oils, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, pencil, ink and mixed media, as well as printmaking and sculpture. Our subjects include terrestrial and marine landscapes, portraits and life studies, still life and abstracts.
We aim to hold at least two exhibitions a year, one in Essex and one in London (see Future Exhibitions).
Look for details of our Activities, which include demonstrations by specialist artists, talks on art history, summer outings for sketching, a portrait group and workshops in selected disciplines.
Who We Are
We are a long-established (well over one hundred years) society of artists and art-lovers, currently about 130 strong. Our members range from total beginners to full-time professionals and include tutors and teachers of art, but most of our members are enthusiastic amateurs. Take a look at the CVs of some of our exhibiting members and portfolios of paintings, drawings and original prints (Portfolio I , Portfolio II).

There is a new section on news items (mainly for members). This will later be transferred to the members' site.
