Keen to get Arty?
Anyone keen to get arty is invited to the 2nd Open Day organised by Southend on Sea Arts Council.
Societies from across the cultural spectrum representing opera, drama, crafts, poetry and Visual Arts are coming together to display Southend's diverse artistic offerings and get people's creative juice flowing.
Promising impromptu peformances, theatrical make-up demonstrations and arts and crafts activities, the day will be a feast for the senses.
Friendly representatives from each organisation will be on hand to chat with anyone interested in the arts and will encouraging people to get involved in one of the many groups taking part on the day.
The Southend Arts Council will use the opportunity to launch the new amateur arts organisation directory, which publicises details of Amateur Arts organisations throughout the Borough, this will be available at all libraries, tourist information centre and council offices within the Borough.
"We will see all vocational groups in the town coming together under one roof, I hope the day will allow groups to socialise and share common ground. It will give the public an opportunity to see the wide diversity of amateur organisations Southend has to offer and will hopefully encourage them to join a group to creatively occupy their spare time!"

The Open Day takes place in the foyer of the Cliffs Pavilion on Sunday 7th September from 10.30 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. and entrance is free.
